In a statement, ASAE states that this action resulted in the initiation of a summary offense proceeding due to the lack of traceability of foodstuffs.
5,140 kilos of frozen fish products were seized, and the total value of the seizure amounts to 33,150 euros.
According to this authority, the inspection and control operation was carried out by the Specialized Brigade for Animal Product Industries of the Regional Unit of the Center, following reports and respective investigations, at a cold storage facility in the municipality of Ílhavo.
ASAE describes that "during the operation, it was possible to verify that the cold storage facility stored the products of animal origin without any identification marks, to be later placed on the market".
"ASAE will continue to carry out inspection actions, within the scope of its competences, throughout the national territory, in favor of healthy and fair competition among economic operators, in safeguarding food safety and public health of consumers", it concludes.
