A young man, 21 years old, was arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP), at dawn on May 17, in the parish of Areeiro, in Lisbon, for being suspected of practicing the crime of theft in a vehicle.
In a statement, this Monday, the Metropolitan Command of Lisbon of the PSP revealed that the arrest occurred at 4:40 am, after police on patrol realized that a man was "forcing open the trunk of a vehicle, noting that the other doors were completely open".
"As this was a suspicious situation, the police took the initiative to approach him", who "tried to hide inside the vehicle".
"The suspect already had two computers in his possession, worth approximately two thousand and fifty euros, which immediately indicated the practice of qualified theft, so he was immediately arrested when it was found that both the vehicle and the items were not his property", informs the PSP.
Later, following the inquiries, "it was possible to find out that the suspect had other items with him, namely sunglasses and the Single Vehicle Document, which had been stolen before, and it was possible to deliver them to their rightful owner who also promptly wanted the respective criminal procedure".
The suspect was present at the first judicial interrogation, being later released and the process forwarded to the DIAP of Lisbon.
