On May 17, the Public Security Police (PSP) arrested two men, aged between 27 and 35, in the parish of Penha de França, in Lisbon, on suspicion of committing the crime of theft in a commercial establishment with a break-in.
In a statement, this Monday, the PSP's Lisbon Metropolitan Command revealed that it had received information that two men were "robbing an establishment", leading the officers to go to the scene.
The police officers verified that, near the door, there was "a fixed reflector pin that was suspected of having been used to damage the glass".
The police officers "contacted the witness who reported having seen two suspects breaking down the door of the establishment and entering it, and that they had then immediately fled with stolen items".
"In possession of a description of the suspects' clothing, the police officers called for police reinforcements to cordon off an area around the crime scene, and they intercepted" the suspects.
"Cash was found in the backpack of one of the suspects and several packs of tobacco were found in a plastic bag. Given the modus operandi of the crime and the value of the stolen items, thus constituting the crime of aggravated theft, the suspects were arrested," says the PSP statement, which specifies that the arrest occurred at 2:40 pm.
The detainees were brought to the first judicial interrogation at the DIAP in Lisbon, and the coercive measure of Periodic Presentations was applied to them.
