The Judicial Police (PJ) located and arrested, in the South Bank of the Tagus, a 24-year-old man who was wanted in Italy for violent crime.
"The Judicial Police, through the Criminal Information Unit, located and arrested, in the south bank, a 24-year-old man, in compliance with a European arrest warrant, issued by the Italian judicial authorities, suspected of the crime of robbery with use of a firearm and kidnapping", announced the PJ, in a statement, this Monday.
According to the same note, "the facts occurred in February 2023, together with two other co-authors, one of them already serving a prison sentence for other facts and the other still to be located".
"In a context of violent and serious crime, using breaking and entering, they entered the victim's house, having tied her up with a wet towel and threatened her with a firearm, coercing her to hand over several thousand euros and gold objects", reveals the PJ.
After the facts were committed, the man "returned to Portugal, with no known professional activity". For these crimes, "he could be sentenced to 20 years in prison".
The suspect was presented to the Lisbon Court of Appeal, which determined that he should await the extradition process in preventive detention.
