MP investigates death of young man on beach in Póvoa. He lived in Luxembourg

The Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) has opened an inquiry to investigate the circumstances of the death of a young woman on Lagoa beach, Póvoa de Varzim, on 13 May, a source from the Attorney General's Office (PGR) confirmed to Notícias ao Minuto.
According to the same source, the inquiry is being led by the Póvoa de Varzim Public Prosecutor's Office.
According to the Luxembourg newspaper Contacto, the victim, of Portuguese nationality, lived in Luxembourg, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country confirmed that the Portuguese authorities were in contact with the young woman's family and that the case was being monitored by the Luxembourg Embassy in Portugal.
It should be recalled that everything happened around 6:00 am on 13 May, after the young woman, 24 years old, who was accompanied by friends, went swimming at Lagoa beach, located next to a night entertainment establishment, and ended up disappearing in the sea.
The authorities immediately began searching for the young woman, who was found in the water and taken to the beach, where resuscitation manoeuvres were performed, but it was not possible to reverse the situation, as indicated by the National Maritime Authority.
The death was declared on the spot, and the body was later transported by the Póvoa de Varzim Volunteer Firefighters to the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences in Porto.
The Maritime Police Psychology Office was activated to provide support to the victim's friends.
