"The regional health service informs that the patients transferred from the Azores to Madeira at the beginning of May continue to receive all the necessary care", informed Sesaram in a statement.
Of "a total of 61 patients received", Sesaram indicates that at this moment, "27 patients are housed in the Garrison Regiment No. 3, 28 are hospitalised in the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital (HNM), and six are in their own accommodation". The autonomous region of Madeira also received, between 13 and 19 May, "from the Azores, a patient in a neurosurgical situation, who is receiving inpatient care, and another pregnant woman". "The 55 patients with chronic kidney disease continue to receive their respective treatments, as well as all the necessary medication, which is being provided by Sesaram", reads the note. Sesaram's communication office also adds that "both health teams from the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores are in constant articulation, in favour of a better provision of care to patients". The Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo (HDES), in Ponta Delgada, suffered a fire on 4 May, which forced the transfer of all patients who were hospitalised to various locations in the Azores, Madeira and the mainland. At the time, there were 333 patients in the health establishment and it was necessary to transfer 240. Immediately after the fire, the Government of the Azores declared a state of public calamity to "accelerate procedures" that would allow the activity of the largest Azorean health unit to return to normal in a "short space of time". The Ponta Delgada hospital, which is gradually restoring outpatient clinical activity after the fire, announced today that it will resume outpatient consultations in all specialities on Tuesday, except paediatrics. According to a publication on the HDES Facebook page, it is mentioned that, on the same day, on the 1st floor of the Ponta Delgada hospital building, on the island of São Miguel, "Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Psychiatry consultation (operating in the Day Hospital space) and [the] Pneumology consultation (operating in the Respiratory Rehabilitation space)" will resume. However, HDES appeals to users not to go to the hospital in person if they have not been contacted to do so.
