PJ arrests members of drug trafficking network (and seizes 235 thousand euros)

Three men aged 30, 45 and 48 were arrested on Monday by the Criminal Investigation Department of Leiria of the Judicial Police (PJ), for being suspected of belonging to an international drug trafficking network.
The authorities also seized 235 thousand euros in cash, according to a statement sent to the newsrooms.
These arrests occurred after, in November last year, two men were also 'caught'. At the time, the PJ seized 351 kilos of cocaine that was hidden in pallets of imported bananas.
"Those now arrested will have been, at the time, responsible for identifying the pallets, removing them from the warehouse and delivering them to the two operatives, who were then arrested and who remain in preventive detention," the note added.
This time, eight searches were carried out in the Lisbon region, four of them at home, which led to the seizure of two cryptocurrency wallets, two luxury watches, a 6.35mm caliber pistol, 102 rounds of the same caliber, a top-of-the-range vehicle and communications and computer equipment.
The men were indicted for the crime of aggravated drug trafficking and criminal association and will be presented to the competent judicial authority for the application of coercive measures.
