Spain. Police officers under investigation for alleged illegal detention of gay man

Barcelona Investigating Court 1 is investigating seven Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) officers for the alleged illegal detention of a homosexual man with whom they had an altercation in a bar in the Eixample district of Barcelona in 2021, sources from the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) reported.
The police action was reported months later to the Internal Affairs Division (DAI) of the Mossos by one of the officers involved, who is also being investigated.
According to El Periódico, the police officers involved, also under investigation for an alleged crime against moral integrity, will have uttered homophobic insults against the detainee, of Moroccan origin, after having put him in the patrol car and not taking him to a police station.
Instead, they left him in the middle of the street.
