Water supply in Évora cut off on Wednesday night
City council said it expected the water supply interruption to "continue until 4am" on Thursday.

The water supply in Évora will be interrupted, from 8:00 pm on Wednesday and until the early hours of the following day, due to maintenance work on the main water pipe in the lower part of the city.
In a press release issued today, the Évora City Council informed that this intervention in the main water pipe's accessory parts is "essential to ensure the replacement of fundamental equipment in the city's central supply".
Due to the "complexity of the work", the municipality said it expects the interruption in the water supply "to last until 4:00 am" on Thursday.
The works may affect "practically all areas of the city, with the exception of the historical centre and the neighbourhoods of Malagueira, Escurinho and Cruz da Picada, Alto dos Cucos and Fontanas, bairro das Espadas and bairro da Vista Alegre", it said.
"The council thanks everyone for their cooperation and understanding for the inevitable inconvenience and recommends that they store water in some containers in their homes and that they turn off electrical appliances that use water", one can read in the press release.
