The beach of Parede, in the municipality of Cascais, was closed for bathing this Wednesday, after analysis of the water quality "revealed microbiological values above the reference parameters".
In a statement, the National Maritime Authority indicated that "after receiving the information from the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), advising against bathing at Parede beach, in Cascais, the Regional Health Authority gave instructions for the red flag to be hoisted and for notices to be placed at the accesses to the beach, prohibiting bathing".
The ban will remain in place "until the results of new water quality tests indicate that the microbiological values are within the reference parameters".
