Conceição Beach, in the municipality of Cascais, district of Lisbon, was closed for bathing this Wednesday.
The water quality analyses "carried out by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA)" revealed "microbiological values above the reference parameters, making the water unfit for bathing", according to a statement from the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
The same note explains that the Regional Health Authority "gave instructions for the red flag to be raised" and "warnings to be placed at the beach accesses, prohibiting bathing", after receiving the alert from the APA, "advising against bathing".
The ban will remain in place "until the results of new water quality analyses indicate that the microbiological values are within the reference parameters ".
On Tuesday, bathing at Parede Beach, in the same municipality, was also banned, after water quality analyses "revealed microbiological values above the reference parameters".
