'Metrobus' work conditions Avenida da Boavista next week
The construction of the 'metrobus' in Porto will require night-time constraints on Avenida da Boavista next week, for milling work, paving of the floor and placement of horizontal signs, it was announced today.

In a statement, the Metro do Porto company clarifies that, from Monday to the 30th, on the Avenida da Boavista route between the streets of Azevedo Coutinho and António Cardoso, there will be a change in descending road traffic to the south side, which, in turn, has only one active lane per direction.
In addition, access to Boavista from the streets of Tenente Valadim and d'O Primeiro de Janeiro, as well as from Rua de Pedro Hispano to Boavista, will be closed, and the intersection of this with Rua de Azevedo Coutinho will also be closed.
This intervention takes place between Monday and Wednesday.
In a final phase, which takes place on the 29th and 30th, on the section between the streets of Azevedo Coutinho and António Bessa Leite, the ascending traffic is diverted to the north side of Avenida da Boavista, leaving only one passable traffic lane in each direction.
Simultaneously, access to Boavista via Rua de Bessa Leite and to Rua de João Grave via the same avenue will be blocked between 9:00 pm and 7:00 am, during which time the works will take place.
According to the company, there will also be some affectations on the route between the streets of Grijó and António Bessa Leite, so traffic is also changed to the north side of Boavista, maintaining one lane of traffic per direction.
In this case, however, it will be necessary to cut the intersection with Rua do Grijó and access to the streets of Dominguez Alvarez and João Grave.
The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT, aka Porto's 'metrobus') will be a green hydrogen bus that will circulate on a dedicated lane on Avenida da Boavista and in coexistence with cars on Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa, with service operated by Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos do Porto (STCP).
The new Metro do Porto service will connect Casa da Música to Praça do Império (in 12 minutes) and to Anémona (in 17) this year.
