GNR associations unhappy with €180 increase proposed by the Government

The Association of Security Professionals (APG / GNR) considered on Thursday that the 180 euro increase proposed by the Government "is a very low value" and recalled that "police officers and guards are saturated".

"There was an improvement in the model, but the value is low, 180 euros more than what already existed is not fair to what was attributed to the elements of the Judicial Police", the president of APG, César Nogueira, told journalists at the end of the meeting with the Minister of Internal Administration.

The GNR associations and PSP unions again left the meeting with Margarida Blasco displeased, who has already presented three proposals to these structures, but all "well below the value" that the police defend.

On Thursday, the Government presented a new proposal to the PSP unions and GNR associations, which involves changing the supplement that already exists in the fixed part from 100 to 280 euros, an increase of 180 euros, and maintaining the variable part of 20% of the base salary.

César Nojeira considered that the Government "can still increase" the value, but believes that "there is not much more room for manoeuvre".

According to the president of APG, the minister stated several times that "there are no budgetary conditions" to reach the supplement that the police are demanding this year.

"In the next meeting we hope that there will be at least a light to increase the value to approach the claims of the professionals", he said.

The next meeting with the minister will take place on 3rd June and on Monday the platform that brings together the PSP unions and GNR associations, of which the APG is a part, will meet to define what they will do in the future.

César Nogueira said that the holding of protests "is always on the table: "If a proposal is not presented that meets the demands of the professionals, we only have one form of protest, which is on the street, we cannot go on strike".

The president of APG also stated that not only the value is at stake, but also the retroactivity and whether it will cover the elements that are in pre-retirement.

For now, César Nogueira rules out the possibility of abandoning the negotiations, stressing that "not being present is slamming the door and slamming the door is an irresponsibility"

The platform proposes that the current 100 euros paid to the police in the supplement be replaced by a fixed component of 712.96 euros, which would translate into an effective increase of around 600 euros, in addition to the 20% of the salary.

"Anything less than that is unfair", he also said, arguing that this value can be given in a phased manner.

Previously, the Minister of Internal Administration met with the six PSP unions, who also left displeased with the proposal presented, considering "the value too low" and the National Police Union threatening to abandon the negotiations.

Currently, the supplement for service and risk in the security forces includes a fixed component of 100 euros and a variable of 20% of the base salary.
