The same source added that the flight departs from Lisbon at 08:50 bound for São Paulo.

On this plane, unlike what happened on the Latam plane, which left last week with the first shipment of donations for Rio Grande do Sul, the cargo is only humanitarian aid, the Brazilian ambassador to Portugal, Raimundo Carreiro, also told Lusa today.

The first flight that left with a shipment of donations for that region of Brazil, which is experiencing a dramatic situation because it was the most affected by the floods, was not exclusively intended for donations for Rio Grande do Sul.

On the Latam plane, which departed from Lisbon on May 17 bound for São Paulo, a space was provided on the aircraft for donations, as reported by Lusa.

The flight carried "a first batch of humanitarian cargo of about 300 kg [space provided by Latam on the aircraft] of goods donated by the Brazilian community in Portugal and by Portuguese citizens, destined for the victims of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul", the Brazilian Embassy in Portugal announced on the social network Instagram.

According to the Embassy, this first shipment gave priority to the sending of winter clothing, such as coats, duvets and blankets, due to the low temperatures recorded in southern Brazil.

In the note published on Instagram, the embassy also committed itself, at the time, in partnership with the Portuguese authorities, with the large Brazilian community and with local civil society, to support "the efforts of the Federal Government (...) for the transportation of all humanitarian aid collected in Portuguese territory to Brazil, in the coming days, by air and sea".
