"There is a Right that wants to go backwards and it must be fought"

"When I say that we fight an extreme right that wants to go backwards, I also say that there is a right that wants these setbacks and must be fought", defended the Blocist candidate, in an action that was attended by the BE coordinator, Mariana Mortágua.

Catarina Martins alluded to the debate with the AD candidate, Sebastião Bugalho, who said that he would be on her side in women's rights, but that in the European Parliament he would sit on the bench "of the parties that in Portugal have attacked the right to abortion and who are currently making alliances with the Italian extreme right".

The Bloco de Esquerda candidate stressed that "unity against conservatism" is necessary and that it is important to develop the idea that "we can be better as a community".

According to Catarina Martins, these are the most important European elections, because she understands that Europe is not going in a good way and "it is necessary to have the strength to create new paths".

"These are the most important European elections ever, because it is true that there is an extreme right that is already threatening women's freedom, human rights and the rights of both those who come from outside and those who are already here, and they have to be fought", stressed the BE's top candidate.

The Blocist leader, Mariana Mortágua, warned that "Europe really decides a large part of our lives" and it is important to vote, as well as to be aware of the position of each party.

"It is important to be aware of what each party will do when they are sitting in the European Parliament, it is important to know what they will do, who they are sitting next to and what values they defend", stressed the Bloco de Esquerda coordinator, during the intervention in Covilhã, in the district of Castelo Branco.
