Two young people die in head-on collision between two cars on the IC2 in Mealhada
Two people died today in an accident on the Complementary Itinerary (IC) 2, in Mealhada, Aveiro district, a source from the Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of Coimbra told Lusa.

According to the Sub-regional Command, the accident alert was given at 07:14 and the means of the firefighters, the National Institute of Medical Emergency and the Republican National Guard (GNR) were sent to the site.
The General Command of the GNR advanced that it was a frontal collision between two light vehicles and the fatal victims are two young people, both 23 years old, occupants of one of the vehicles.
Also according to the GNR, there is a slight injury, a 61-year-old man, occupant of the other vehicle involved.
The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the GNR's Road Traffic Accident Criminal Investigation Unit.
