"There were 11 arrests, eight for insult and offences against the physical integrity of the police, one for possession of narcotics, one for speculation and another for throwing objects at the police", explained Artur Serafim, from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command, to Lusa.

In the most problematic situation, shots were fired to "intervene" in a "disorder between FC Porto supporters", some of whom turned against the police, "throwing stones", and some ended up being arrested.

"After our intervention, the situation was immediately resolved", he said, adding that "all arrests took place before the start of the game" and that after the end of the game "there were no further incidents to report".

In addition, the public relations officer of the Lisbon Metropolitan Command indicated that "22 people were identified for possession of pyrotechnic articles".

FC Porto won their 20th Portuguese Cup in football, the third consecutive, by beating Sporting 2-1 in the final, after extra time, in a game played at the National Stadium, in Jamor.

The 'dragons' thus stood out in second place in the honours list, with 20 trophies, six less than Benfica, who lead with 26, while Sporting is third in the ranking, with 17.
