Ammonia leak 'evacuates' company in Avis. Two people assisted
A firefighter and a factory worker had to be treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.

An ammonia leak led to the evacuation of a produce factory in Avis, in the district of Portalegre. According to Notícias ao Minuto, the evacuation and response operations are currently underway, after the alert was given at 10:23 am for the company Dardico.
A source from the Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command told Lusa that a firefighter and a factory employee had to be assisted on site for inhaling fumes.
The same source indicated that by 12:00 pm, the ammonia leak "was already under control".
The relief operations involved 31 firefighters from Avis, Sousel, Ponte de Sor, and Alter do Chão, and members of the GNR, assisted by 14 vehicles.
