GNR arrests 14 people in a crime prevention operation in Seixal

The Setúbal Territorial Command of the National Republican Guard (GNR) arrested 14 men between the ages of 22 and 41, as part of a special crime prevention operation, in the municipality of Seixal, on May 26.
The operation, which was carried out through the Setúbal Traffic Detachment (DT), included 425 inspection actions on people and vehicles, resulting in the arrest of 14 individuals, "nine for driving under the influence of alcohol, three for disobedience, one for lack of legal qualification and one for drug trafficking", detailed that police, in a statement sent to the newsrooms.
Two women were also identified on suspicion of theft of non-precious metals, as well as "85 minutes of contravention were drawn up within the scope of road legislation and one for possession and consumption of narcotics".
In addition, it was possible to seize 58 doses of hashish and 12 vehicles.
According to the GNR, "50 military personnel from various branches of the Guard were involved, namely from the territorial, traffic, intervention and criminal investigation device, from the Setúbal Territorial Command", who had "the reinforcement of resources from the National Traffic Unit (UNT), from the Border and Coastal Control Unit (UCCF), from the Canine Intervention Group (GIC), from the Public Order Intervention Group (GIOP) of the Intervention Unit (UI) and from the Santarém Territorial Command".
"This operation had as its main objective to reinforce visibility in a previously referenced location, as well as the prevention and fight against crime, with a view to deterring criminal activities, in general, and to control, detect and prevent the practice of illicit acts related to weapons, consumption and/or drug trafficking and relating to road safety, in particular, with the purpose of reinforcing the population's sense of security and guaranteeing road safety", he added.
The facts were communicated to the Almada Judicial Court.
