According to a source from the Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command, a firefighter and a factory employee were assisted on site for vapor inhalation and, later, two workers were transported to the Portalegre hospital, also considered to be slightly injured.

The same source indicated that the alert was given at 10:23 and that, by 12:00, the ammonia leak "was already under control".

Contacted by Lusa at 3:00 pm, the source from the Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command assured that the "problem had been solved", and that work was underway at that time to "verify that there was no leak into the sewers".

The relief operations involved 39 firefighters from Avis, Sousel, Ponte de Sor and Alter do Chão, and members of the GNR, assisted by 16 vehicles.
