Operation to combat drug trafficking in Porto resulted in 17 arrests
An operation by the PSP to combat drug trafficking, carried out on Tuesday in Porto, resulted in 17 arrests and the seizure of 64,000 doses of narcotics, weapons and more than 50,000 euros in cash, it was announced today.

In a statement, that investigative force revealed that in the referred operation, which targeted a "group of individuals who were involved in an organized manner in drug trafficking in the Metropolitan Area of Porto", 60 house searches and six non-house searches were carried out.
According to the PSP, 15 men and two women, aged between 20 and 52, were arrested.
In total, the PSP seized 57,272 individual doses of hashish, 1,365 of marijuana, 477 doses of heroin, 941 of cocaine and 3,993 doses of amphetamines.
Seven firearms, various ammunitions, seven knives, eight precision scales and 58,214 euros in cash were also seized.
In statements to Lusa, a PSP source said that the searches were carried out around the university campus, in the Paranhos area.
The detainees will, today, be brought before the judicial authorities for the application of the appropriate coercive measures.
On Monday, a PSP source said that 18 people had been arrested and several kilos of hashish and synthetic drugs had been seized during the operation.
