55-year-old woman arrested for abandoning dog on public road in Lisbon
The woman claimed not to have the availability to take care of the animal.

A 55-year-old woman was arrested on Monday for allegedly abandoning a pet animal in the parish of Marvila, in Lisbon.
In a statement sent to newsrooms on Wednesday, the Public Security Police (PSP) explained that the officers were contacted to go to a veterinary clinic "because there was a canine on the premises that appeared to be lost".
The animal's chip was read and the officers went to the owner's home, who informed them that the dog was hers, but she was not available to stay and take care of it and, therefore, decided to abandon it on the public highway.
After being warned several times that her actions constituted a crime of animal abandonment, the woman reiterated her intention, which led to her arrest.
The suspect was notified to appear at the Public Prosecutor's Office to be heard in the first interrogation for the application of a coercive measure.
