The National Maritime Authority (AMN) announced that the Parede beach, in the municipality of Cascais, was closed for bathing this Friday. The reason is the "water quality".
In a statement published on social media, the authority said that the Portuguese Environment Agency carried out water quality tests, which revealed "microbiological levels above the reference parameters, making the water unsuitable for bathing".
The APA then advised against bathing at Parede beach and the Regional Health Authority gave "instructions for the red flag to be hoisted and for notices to be placed at the beach accesses".
According to the AMN, the ban "will remain in place until the results of new water quality tests indicate that the microbiological values are within the reference parameters".
