The outgoing president of the Madeira Government (PSD/CDS-PP), Miguel Albuquerque, considered this Monday that Sebastião Bugalho is a "media name, a name that reaches the youth and a name known in the country", but that he was still surprised "in a certain way" that he was chosen to lead the list of the Democratic Alliance (AD) in the European elections in June. "I didn't know", guaranteed Miguel Albuquerque.
Questioned by journalists if Sebastião Bugalho would be a name that well-known by the Portuguese, Albuquerque was clear and guaranteed that "people know him from television, he is a good speaker, a good commentator". Regarding the fact that the journalist and commentator has no ties to the PSD, Miguel Albuquerque assumed that to be the head of the list it was not necessary to be a "party member".
"There was, on the part of the party's leadership, an attempt at renewal, to introduce youth. This is the case of Lídia Pereira who is, at this moment, the president of the Popular Youth and is a person with great capacity. I think it's a good decision", he also considered.
Regarding the controversy with Rui Moreira, pointed out by many as the head of the AD list, Miguel Albuquerque referred the explanations to the party president, Luís Montenegro.
Albuquerque also commented on the ninth place occupied by the candidate nominated by Madeira, Rubina Leal. "[Does it satisfy me?] Not at all. For the autonomous regions it is a setback and a bad decision by the party", he considered.
Miguel Albuquerque also said that he will vote against the list presented by the coalition. "It is a strategic mistake" by the leadership, declared Albuquerque, upon entering the party's National Council, in Lisbon.
It should be recalled that Sebastião Bugalho will be the head of the Democratic Alliance (AD) list for the European elections in June. The list of the Democratic Alliance coalition (PSD, CDS-PP and PPM) for the European Parliament will be voted on today in a meeting of the PSD National Council, scheduled for 9 pm in Lisbon.
