Política Paulo Raimundo

The Secretary-General of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP), Paulo Raimundo, criticized, this Wednesday, the big companies and the "injustice" they create in the "retribution of the created wealth".

"Workers are here today to show their strength, their demand and their capacity and against the injustice. The injustice of what is the retribution of the created wealth", said the communist, in statements to journalists, in Lisbon, on the sidelines of the Labor Day parade.

Raimundo recalled the profit of big companies, such as BPI and Galp, in which "everything is always growing".

"The economy grows, the profits grow, the interest rates grow, the difficulties of the people grow. Only the salaries and stability in the people's lives do not grow", he said.

The PCP leader said he believes that the workers will be able, "with their struggle and determination", to "impose a better life, better salaries and less unregulated hours".

It should be noted that hundreds of people started around 3:30 pm to climb Avenida Almirante Reis towards Alameda Afonso Henriques, in Lisbon, to mark Labor Day.

"May 1st, increase salaries and pensions, guarantee rights" and "Fight exploitation, April for a Portugal with a future", are the slogans that head a march that the secretary-general of CGTP, Tiago Oliveira, wants to be a demonstration of the workers that the values of April are as present as they were 50 years ago.
