The coordinator of the Left Bloc (BE), Mariana Mortágua, said this Thursday that the dismissal of the board of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia "has little to do with the financial conditions", but rather with a "decision of political cleansing and exchange of places" that can be "seen in other sectors of the State".

In statements to SIC Notícias, Mortágua considered that the departures of the provider Ana Jorge and the Executive Directorate of the National Health Service (SNS) "do not necessarily solve the problems of Santa Casa and health".

"For us it is much more important to listen to the provider and understand what is happening at Santa Casa, knowing that the hasty decisions to exchange places have a political basis and this was admitted by the Prime Minister when he says that it makes sense that there is a police coordination between the Government and the team that manages Santa Casa", said Mariana Mortágua.

The leftist also spoke about the proposals to lower taxes and the IRS and highlighted the proposal "presented only by the Left Bloc and which has a significant impact, because it allows the deduction of interest on housing loans after 2011".

Mariana Mortágua clarified that the party presented a proposal, approved in general, which aims to "make the interest on housing loan contracts" after 2011 deductible for IRS.

"This proposal has an impact on all people who took out a housing loan after 2011, particularly young people, who did so when the price of housing was already rising a lot", she stressed.

Mortágua stated that "it is important that these projects do not die in the specialty, when no one is watching" and challenged the parties to show what they want and their commitment to the measures.

"On the part of the Left Bloc, I would like to leave our commitment to these proposals. We want a proposal to update the specific deduction to come out of this committee, so that each person can have a greater automatic deduction and thus pay less IRS across the board. We want a proposal to update and reorganize the IRS brackets, which is fairer and allows for a reduction in taxes", said the coordinator of the Bloc.
