Between "dramas" and ex-SCUT, "PS in the Opposition does more than PSD in the Government"

The Secretary-General of the Socialist Party (PS), spoke to reporters this Thursday after a proposal by the party to end tolls on former SCUTs was given the 'green light' in the Assembly.

"What we are doing is fulfilling the electoral commitment we made to the Portuguese people. That is what we did, with pride. We are not going beyond our electoral program and we are not approving proposals that did not fit into the macroeconomic scenario that the Socialist Party presented", he said in statements to reporters.

Stressing that 'work is done' both in the Government and in the Parliament, Pedro Nuno Santos reinforced that the PS was in the latter to "work, approve proposals and improve the lives of the Portuguese people".

The socialist leader also exemplified the discussion and voting of the proposals in relation to the IRS, before making an assessment of the Government, which is celebrating one month today. "At the end of 30 days, we withdraw a change of logo, a proposal to reduce IRS that turned out to be false, the promotion of instability in various public administration services without justifying or explaining in a convincing way the reasons for these replacements. And now, we had from the Minister of Finance, a dramatization of the situation of public accounts, which reminds us of the speech of the former Prime Minister Durão Barroso's 'tanga'", he accused, adding that this was a preparation by the Executive so that electoral promises would not be fulfilled.

"Instead of having a government that governs, we have a government that is a focus of instability in public administration, which dramatizes the situation of public accounts, which are fine, in a catastrophic way, and this is worrying. What we needed was a government to govern. The Socialist Party in the Opposition is managing to do more than the PSD in the Government", he considered.

The statements come after the proposal to end tolls on former SCUTs was approved in Parliament, with only the votes against the PSD and the CDS (and abstention from the IL).
