"The Government continues to govern as it did with the fiscal shock and the IRS measures, they are small patches here and there that were not what people were truly expecting", he said, in statements to journalists, in parliament, about the approval today in the Council of Ministers of the increase, from June, of the CSI reference value from 550 to 600 euros and the elimination of the children's income as an exclusion factor criterion.
The president of Chega considered that "there are miserable pensions and it is not with marginal increases of the CSI that the problem will be solved" and pointed out that during the campaign "the AD and Chega had guaranteed an extraordinary increase in pensions".
Defending that the "Government should have gone further", André Ventura appealed to the Government to carry out "a shock increase in pensions in Portugal".
Referring that "the PS would have presented a similar proposal", because the measure "was in its program", Ventura questioned the prime minister if he wants to "govern like the PS".
"Is it a source of pride for the PSD to govern as the PS would?", he asked.
Stating that the executive is "systematically evading its responsibilities", the president of Chega considered that this "Government tactic will not work because people are not easily fooled".
"This shows a disoriented Government, making patches and probably thinking about elections", he argued.
Today, the Council of Ministers also approved the free provision of prescription drugs to around 145 thousand CSI beneficiaries.
André Ventura said that if these measures are appreciated by parliament, Chega will make them viable.
As for the IRS reduction proposals, the leader of Chega said that "Chega will not make any proposal viable" if the "meaning of the proposal that the Government had presented" is not changed.
