Ana Gomes considered, this Sunday, that the Government "seems" to have started to govern, after realizing that "the assessment" of its first month in office was "very bad" and based on a strategy of "victimization".

"I think that the Government this week seems to have started to govern, even at the end of the week", Ana Gomes began by saying, in her commentary space on SIC Notícias, in a reference to the fact that the Executive led by Luís Montenegro had announced new measures, namely those intended to benefit some pensioners.

"I think that the Government finally wanted to do this because it realized that, after 30 days, the assessment was indeed very bad. It was a Government, as they said, of combat, of dismissals, with disastrous consequences (...) Furthermore, without replacing people", criticized the former diplomat, in a reference to the dismissals at Santa Casa de Lisboa and the departure of Fernando Araújo from the Executive Directorate of the National Health Service (SNS).

For Ana Gomes, either "the Government assumes that it is for political reasons that it has certain choices, or if it comes to evoke alleged just causes, it has to explain them very well".

The former presidential candidate also highlighted the importance of the Executive starting to negotiate, "in particular" with the Socialist Party (PS). "There are those who even say that, deep down, they are facing each other, even because of the victimization strategy they have been using", she stressed.

In this vein, she criticized the Minister of Finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, for his recent statements on the public accounts, which "may have consequences" for our external image of the country.

"It is dangerous", she added.
