the location of the new airport. At a press conference with the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing of Portugal, Prime Minister Luís Montenegro conveyed the decision taken at the Council of Ministers: it will be in Alcochete and is called Luís de Camões Airport.
It should be recalled that the Independent Technical Commission (CTI) published on March 11 the final report of the strategic environmental assessment of the new airport, maintaining the recommendation of a single solution in Alcochete or Vendas Novas.
The PSD decided to set up an internal working group to analyze the location, after having agreed with the PS to set up a CTI to carry out the strategic environmental assessment.
Luís Montenegro guaranteed, before being elected Prime Minister, that the decision would be made "in the first days" of the Government in office.

He continued: "The decision had already been studied, so there were conditions to decide in a thoughtful way the location of the airport. We knew that Alcochete was the best decision."
Pedro Nuno Santos ended his speech by reiterating the "unequivocal support of the Socialist Party" for this decision and leaving a "personal congratulation for being able to move forward with the solution in Alcochete."
