PS Secretary-General Pedro Nuno Santos made a statement on Friday on social media platform X about the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
On social media, the Socialist leader admitted that there is still much work to be done on this "mission", on which the PS will be "unyielding".
"Celebrating the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia is to affirm, today and every day, the PS's unwavering commitment to a society free from stigmatization based on sexual orientation or gender identity. We will be a more equal and just country whenever we ensure that each of us can be exactly who we are, love who we love, and live as we want to live. No more, no less. It cannot be any other way. And we must celebrate that," he began by saying, stressing the need to deepen the defense of the rights of all those who still feel discriminated against.
"Marking this day is also recognizing that we still have work ahead of us in deepening and defending the rights of all those who, even today, feel the impact of inequality caused by these forms of discrimination. We will be uncompromising in this mission," he assured.
It should be recalled that the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and Prime Minister Luís Montenegro also marked the day.
