IL President defends "structural reform" for health
The president of the Liberal Initiative (IL) considered today that the Government's emergency program for health "will fall short of the needs of the Portuguese" and defended a "structural reform" with contributions from the social and private sectors.

The president of the IL, who was speaking on the sidelines of a lunch in Carcavelos, Cascais, as part of the pre-campaign for the European elections with the lead candidate for the European Parliament, João Cotrim Figueiredo, was questioned about the message published today by the Prime Minister on the social network 'X' (formerly Twitter), in which he guaranteed that family health will be "one of the axes" of the emergency program for the sector that the Government plans to present in June.
"Caring with proximity and trust. On World Family Doctor's Day, I emphasize that family health will be one of the axes of our emergency program. We will value health professionals and with them provide answers to citizens", reads the message from Luís Montenegro.
Noting that the Government's emergency program for the health sector is not yet known, the president of the IL stated that the measures should be "more comprehensive" and will be "insufficient to address the issues that afflict the Portuguese in terms of health", taking into account the AD's electoral program and the Government's program.
On Wednesday, in the biweekly debate with the Prime Minister in the Assembly of the Republic, the head of the executive stated that the emergency program for health would be presented within two weeks, with a special focus on the recovery of surgeries, obstetrics and responses within the scope of family medicine.
