"As a lying and hateful discourse that aims to increase violence and make Portugal a much more insecure country spreads, the Left Bloc has another commitment, which is to show examples of integration", Mariana Mortágua said on Monday, during a visit to the Castelo Elementary School, in Lisbon.

The leader of the Left Bloc (BE) said she wanted to "show that our country is multicultural, it has always been a place of passage, and our duty is to welcome those who arrive".

"This is how we build a safer, more prosperous and developed country", Mariana Mortágua also said,

"Racism is not born with us, it is instilled based on distrust and violence. And as this discourse grows by the mother of the extreme right, but which is then legitimized by other political forces, the Left Bloc wants to oppose this discourse", she finally asserted.

It should be noted that fascism and integration have been themes discussed by both Portuguese society and the Assembly of the Republic. The statements by André Ventura, the chaos in the AIMA and the attack on a Nepalese child are some examples.
