CDU wants to "counteract" abstention in European elections
The party's top candidate for the European Parliament elections will be present on Monday at the PCP's conference, which will take place today and tomorrow in Sesimbra.

The CDU's top candidate for the European elections is, this Monday, at the PCP's Conference, which is taking place today and tomorrow, in Sesimbra.
In an interview with journalists present at the location, João Oliveira revealed that the party wants to help combat the abstention that marks, every four years, these elections.
"There is usually a great abstention for the European Parliament because people feel that these are elections that do not directly concern their lives, that are not very relevant, and that is something we want to counteract", he stressed, highlighting the importance of the party's conferences, at a time when less than a month is left for the European elections.
"The parliamentary conferences are always a time when we seek to deepen some discussion on important issues for the agenda and for the country and update some relevant information", he said, assuring that "there is in fact a general recognition of the CDU and of the CDU's members of the European Parliament, this is a very evident element in the contact with small business owners, with farmers, fishermen, young people", which gives the party "comfort and hope".
