"This year there were six complaints related to the Madeira elections, only", he said.

According to the spokesman, one of the four complaints was due to the removal of propaganda, another regarding the issue of television coverage of one of the campaigns and two "about possible abuses or violation of the duty of neutrality".

The complaints "have already been resolved, either with recommendations or with notifications for behaviour" and the two opinions have also been issued, he stressed.

The requests for clarification were submitted by two public entities, and the complaints came from a citizen and three political parties.

The spokesman stressed that the campaign and pre-campaign of this electoral process were "very calm" in terms of interactions with the CNE, compared to the previous elections, held in September 2023.

At that time, 80 complaints and 11 requests for opinions were submitted within the scope of the Madeira regional elections.

On Sunday, the CNE will be meeting all day to monitor the Madeira electoral process, he added.

The Madeira legislative elections will take place on Sunday, with 14 candidacies competing for the 47 seats in the regional parliament, in a single electoral constituency: ADN, BE, PS, Livre, IL, RIR, CDU (PCP/PEV), Chega, CDS-PP, MPT, PSD, PAN, PTP and JPP.

The early elections take place eight months after the most recent regional elections, after the President of the Republic dissolved the Madeira parliament, following the political crisis triggered in January, when the leader of the Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP), Miguel Albuquerque, was named a defendant in a process in which suspicions of corruption are being investigated.

In September 2023, the PSD/CDS coalition won without an absolute majority and elected 23 deputies. The PS won 11, the JPP five, the Chega four, while the CDU, the IL, the PAN (which signed a parliamentary agreement with the Social Democrats) and the BE each obtained one mandate.

The PSD has always governed in the archipelago and won with an absolute majority in 11 elections between 1976 and 2015.
