If you are on vacation, working, or for some other reason unable to vote in the European Elections on June 9, you can register to vote early, anywhere in the country, starting this Sunday, May 26.

To do so, you have until Thursday, May 30, to register on the early voting website, entering your personal information and selecting your preferred polling station.

If you prefer, you can register by mail, sending your information (full name, date of birth, civil identification number, address, polling station where you wish to vote, and contact information) to: Secretaria-Geral da Administração Interna (Praça do Comércio, Ala Oriental, 1149-015 Lisboa). The letter must arrive by May 30.

Early voting in the European Elections is scheduled for June 2 and you can vote in any municipality in the country.

To try to reverse the trend of high abstention, this year, for the first time, it is not necessary to register to vote abroad.

You can do so between May 28 and 30, at diplomatic or consular representations or at external delegations of Portuguese public institutions, but only under the following conditions:

• Inherent to the exercise of public or private functions;
• In official representation of a national team, organized by a sports federation with the status of public sports utility;
• As a student, researcher, teacher, or research fellow at a higher education institution, research unit, or equivalent recognized by the competent Ministry;
• Sick in treatment;
• If you live with or accompany the voters mentioned in the four previous points.
