According to information provided by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration, the social democrats obtained 36.13% of the votes and 19 seats in the regional parliament, which is made up of a total of 47 members.

In second place, the PS won 11 seats, followed by the JPP, with nine, Chega, with four, the CDS-PP, with two, and the IL and the PAN, with one member each. The BE and the CDU left the Legislative Assembly, in relation to the previous composition.

Thus, the PSD, Chega, CDS-PP and IL will have 26 members in the Madeiran parliament. The total could rise to 27 members, if the member elected by the PAN, Mónica Freitas, joins, who in the previous legislature made an agreement on parliamentary incidence with the social democrats.

The PS and the JPP together have 20 members, four short of the majority of seats in the Madeiran parliament.

In a reaction on Sunday night, the social democrat Miguel Albuquerque said he was available to govern with "all parties".

However, the also resigning president of the Regional Government and leader of the PSD/Madeira, who was speaking in Funchal, even before the publication of the final official results by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration, did not mention any specific political force, admitting to governing in a minority, negotiating a government or parliamentary agreement.

The leader of the PS/Madeira, Paulo Cafôfo, considered that the electoral results show that a change of government in the region is possible, saying he was available to dialogue to build an alternative, excluding the PSD and Chega from these conversations.

"Out of the equation" for the JPP is also the PSD and Miguel Albuquerque, as assured by the party's lead candidate, Élvio Sousa, who postponed any other conversations to Monday.

A Regional Government without Miguel Albuquerque is also one of the conditions imposed by Chega to support the social democratic executive. If the president of the PSD/Madeira stays, he will have to "have the courage" to govern without a majority, said the regional leader of Chega, Miguel Castro, on Sunday.

The CDS-PP, which was part of the last two governments in coalition with the PSD, has already admitted that it is available to dialogue with all parties, but warned that it will not join the executive again.

The IL also reaffirmed on Sunday night that it will not make agreements with anyone, although it is available to negotiate on a case-by-case basis.

Stating that it is "a party of openness, dialogue, and construction", the PAN assured that it will not leave "anyone out" and will always think "about what is best" for the region.

Fourteen candidacies contested the 47 seats in the regional parliament, in a single constituency: ADN, BE, PS, Livre, IL, RIR, CDU (PCP/PEV), Chega, CDS-PP, MPT, PSD, PAN, PTP and JPP.

The early elections took place eight months after the most recent regional legislative elections, after the President of the Republic dissolved the Madeiran parliament, following the political crisis triggered in January, when the leader of the Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP), Miguel Albuquerque, was made a defendant in a process in which suspicions of corruption are being investigated.
