"We have no intention of making any agreements with anyone. (...) Don't waste your time with us", said Nuno Morna, leader of IL/Madeira.

The leader specified that IL/Madeira is not available to "align with any type of agreement with Miguel Albuquerque", nor will it "align with the far-fetched solution proposed by Paulo Cafôfo, in a kind of Spanish hostel that wants to have everything and anything".

Nuno Morna stressed that the people of Madeira gave a clear majority to the PSD "and it is up to that party to create a solution for the future of Madeira".

"We are willing to talk to anyone, always from a perspective of conversation, but not of agreements or understandings. From now on, with us, it will be case by case, point by point, program by program, decree by decree, budget by budget. Everything negotiated and everything you want us to agree with will have to be discussed in this way", he stressed.

IL/Madeira obtained 3,482 votes on Sunday, compared to 3,555 in 2023, according to the final results.

The PSD won the early regional legislative elections in Madeira on Sunday, missing an absolute majority by five deputies, with all the parishes counted, according to provisional official data.

According to information provided by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration, the Social Democrats obtained 36.13% of the votes (49,103 votes) and 19 seats in the regional parliament, which consists of a total of 47 deputies.

In second place, the PS won 11 seats (21.32% of the total), followed by the JPP, with nine (16.89%), Chega, with four (9.23%), the CDS-PP, with two (3.96%), and the IL (with 2.56%) and the PAN (1.86%), with one deputy each.

The BE and the CDU left the Legislative Assembly, in relation to the previous composition.

An absolute majority requires 24 seats.
