In his first campaign action, the head of the Democratic Alliance (AD), Sebastião Bugalho, will have a busy day, with five actions in the south of the country. The candidate will start the day in the Algarve, with initiatives in Olhão and Faro, dedicated to fishing and migrations, then heading to the Alentejo, with stops in Moura and Reguengos de Monsaraz, before ending the day in Évora, where the party president and prime minister, Luís Montenegro, will also be present.
Chega will also be in the Algarve and Alentejo, starting the day with a street parade in Vila Nova de Milfontes, in the district of Beja, then heading to Albufeira, where it will hold another parade through the city center.
The PS caravan will have the most intense day among all the parties, also south of the Tagus and only in the district of Setúbal. The head of the list, Marta Temido, will start the day at 7:30 in the morning, with a contact with the population in Cacilhas, and will only end at 8:30 pm, with a rally in Almada, which will also feature a speech by the socialist leader, Pedro Nuno Santos.
Otherwise, all parties with parliamentary seats will have initiatives in the district of Lisbon.
The Left Bloc (BE) will start the day with a visit to the weekly fair in Espinho, in the district of Aveiro, but will soon leave for Lisbon, with two initiatives in the municipality of Loures, including a dinner-rally in Sacavém.
The Liberal Initiative (IL) will start the campaign with actions in the center of the capital: the party's head of the list, João Cotrim de Figueiredo, will participate in an action in Campo Pequeno in the morning and will end the day with a dinner-rally in Beato, in which the leader, Rui Rocha, will also participate.
The CDU also has a day dedicated exclusively to the district of Lisbon, with a contact with the population in Amadora in the morning and, in the afternoon, two sessions, one on salaries - in which the general secretary of the PCP, Paulo Raimundo, will participate - and another on culture.
Livre will divide the day between the district of Setúbal and Lisbon. Three hours after the head of the PS list, the "number one" of Livre, Francisco Paupério, will take a boat trip between Cais do Sodré and Cacilhas, spending the afternoon in Sintra, with a visit to the ecological restoration of Vale da Adraga and a get-together with party members at Café Paranoia.
In turn, the "number one" of PAN, Pedro Fidalgo Marques, starts the campaign with two initiatives dedicated to the environment in the district of Lisbon: a visit to the technology 'start-up' Wind Credible, in Amadora, and another to the Zoófilo Quinta Carbona Institute, in the municipality of Oeiras.
About 373 million European voters are called to vote for the European Parliament between June 6th and 9th. In Portugal, the vote is on the 9th.
720 MEPs will be elected, 21 of whom are Portuguese.
A total of 17 parties and coalitions are running in the elections: AD, PS, Chega, IL, BE, CDU, Livre, PAN, ADN, MAS, Ergue-te, Nova Direita, Volt Portugal, RIR, Nós Cidadãos, MPT and PTP.
