"We must have diverse policies to be able to enhance the wealth of the sea"

"We have a very rich sea, therefore, it makes no sense not to take advantage of this very rich sea to create more wealth for the country", said Bugalho in his first campaign action of the European elections.

After a brief meeting with associations of producers of activities related to the sea in the Fishing Port of Olhão, the candidate defended that the Sea should move up the list of priorities of the Portuguese and their policies.

"The guarantee that the Democratic Alliance gave was precisely that we will be attentive to the fact that we have a rich sea and that we have to have more diverse policies to be able to enhance the wealth of this sea", insisted Sebastião Bugalho.

Before visiting the Olhão market, the head of the AD list for the European elections also criticized his main adversary, the Socialist Party (PS), for, he said, not having the word fishermen in his electoral program.

"I only regret that the Socialist Party does not have the word fishermen once in the program to be able to respond to these needs", said the candidate.

The official campaign for the European elections began today with most of the parties concentrated in Lisbon, with the exception of the AD, PS and Chega, which will dedicate the day to districts south of the Tagus.

On the other hand, Sebastião Bugalho refused to talk about the elections that were held on Sunday in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, where one of the parties that is part of the AD, the PSD, came in first place but without an absolute majority.

"As you know, as a candidate for the European Parliament, I don't have to make any deals with anyone, I'm lucky. Therefore, I am focused on the result, I am focused on having the best possible result and obviously I am happy every time the parties that make up the Democratic Alliance win elections", he said.

The AD candidate started the day in the Algarve, with initiatives in Olhão and Faro, then moved on to the Alentejo, with stops in Moura and Reguengos de Monsaraz, before ending the day in Évora, where the party president and prime minister, Luís Montenegro, will also be present.

17 parties and coalitions will run in the elections on June 9: the AD, PS, Chega, IL, BE, CDU, Livre, PAN, ADN, MAS, Ergue-te, Nova Direita, Volt Portugal, RIR, Nós Cidadãos, MPT and PTP.
