In the request submitted to the parliamentary inquiry committee, to which the Lusa agency had access, the party also calls the former chairman of the board of directors of the Lisbon North University Hospital Centre (CHULN) Daniel Ferro, the president of Infarmed, Rui Santos Ivo, the chief of staff of the President of the Republic, Frutuoso de Melo, and the advisor to the President of the Republic for social affairs, Maria João Ruela.  The PAN, which is represented on the committee by its sole deputy, Inês de Sousa Real, also wants to hear the former secretary of Lacerda Sales, Carla Silva, and the former chief of staff of the former Secretary of State for Health. Regarding the written statement by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the party clarifies that the "questions should be previously established by this parliamentary inquiry committee". "The PAN also proposes that the record of contacts and meetings of the former Secretary of State for Health, Lacerda Sales, in the State Secretariat be requested", he adds. The parliamentary inquiry committee meets on Wednesday to, among other matters, appoint the reporting deputy, assess and vote on the draft regulation, assess and vote on the time grid and establish the operating methodology. At issue is the treatment, in 2020, of two twins living in Brazil who acquired Portuguese nationality, with the drug Zolgensma. With a total cost of four million euros (two million euros per person), this drug aims to control the spread of spinal muscular atrophy, a neurodegenerative disease. The case was reported by TVI last November and is still being investigated by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) and IGAS has already concluded that access to these children's neuropediatric consultation was illegal. An internal audit by the Santa Maria Hospital also concluded that the scheduling of a first hospital consultation by the State Secretariat for Health was the only exception to compliance with the rules in this case.
