"It is a happy coincidence that the AD Government is presenting the emergency health plan today so that these people, who need answers so much, can finally have them," Sebastião Bugalho told journalists during a visit to the Mercado do Livramento.

The AD's top candidate for the European elections was enthusiastically received by vendors and shoppers who, amid many kisses, hugs and 'selfies', assured him of their vote on the 9th.

"People are happy to see us, but they are not so happy with the difficulties they are going through," health being one of their concerns, he lamented.

Sebastião Bugalho expressed his conviction that the emergency health plan could solve problems such as the lack of family doctors: "I do not believe it, I am sure of it."

Upon arriving at the market, Bugalho heard from an elderly man that "everyone makes a lot of promises," but there are problems that are not solved, such as the lack of family doctors.

"I want a family doctor and I don't have one," lamented the elderly man, with the AD candidate blaming the situation on "nine years of socialism."

"Now we are going to change that, you can be sure of it," he stressed.

Shortly after, the complaints shifted from health to housing, with Teresa Cunha, 61, a widow and caregiver for a disabled grandson, lamenting that she could not afford to pay "a house of 500, 600, 700 euros."

"I am about to be thrown out into the street with a disabled grandson and I ask: where are the answers? I have not had any answers since 2015," she criticized.

Sebastião Bugalho took the opportunity to emphasize that the AD is the only candidacy that has in its program to enshrine housing as a fundamental right.

In the enthusiasm of the conversation, Teresa addressed Sebastião Bugalho as "Mr. Deputy," to which the top candidate clarified that he did not yet hold that position.

"Whatever you are, you are here to get there," added the woman, who admitted that she still did not know which party she was going to vote for.

To journalists, the candidate said it was "understandable that, after nine years of a government that created great dissatisfaction," people would complain about not having solutions to the problems of their daily lives.

"What we feel here is an enormous frustration with nine years of PS and people demand a change, people do not want to go back, they want to move forward, that is what I felt in this market," he stressed.

The guarantee of support came to him from many who consider the fact that he is a new candidate an advantage.

"I like to see new people working like this. Politics should have already taken a turn with the younger ones, with the old ones we are not going anywhere," said a woman, adding that the candidate "is not new to Europe, he is at the right time."

From the Setúbal market, the AD caravan headed to Almada where Sebastião Bugalho fulfilled the tradition inaugurated by Cavaco Silva during the campaigns for prime minister: drinking a bica at Café Central.

"Just in case, we will have a coffee for superstition," said the candidate.

In Almada, Sebastião Bugalho again received promises of votes, both from people he greeted and from children and grandchildren who said they had at home and would vote AD, to whom he replied: "Here is a pen to vote on the 9th."

In addition to the greetings, he also kissed a baby, received warnings that he "is very thin" and compliments that extended to other PSD figures.

"I am 87 years old and I am very honored to greet you. You, Moedas and Montenegro are three heroes, three musketeers," said one of the gentlemen he spoke to.
