"On this topic, I have already said everything I had to say: I have nothing to do with the dossier, beyond what I have already reported to the General Inspectorate of Healthcare Activities. I am fully available to collaborate with all authorities for clarification," she said.

At the end of a visit to Olano Portugal, in the municipality of Guarda, the candidate for MEP was questioned by journalists about an alleged document indicating that the mother of the Portuguese-Brazilian twins, treated at Hospital Santa Maria, would have told the children's doctor that she had all the signatures to carry out the treatment in Portugal, including that of the former Minister of Health.

In the response, Marta Temido said she was unaware of this document and stressed that such processes "are not even authorized by the Minister of Health".

"I can only say what I have already said: I do not know more about the case than what I have already mentioned, and that I am available to tell it again, anywhere I am asked, that I do not know the mother, I do not know the doctor. I really don't know anything else about it," she claimed.

At issue is the treatment, in 2020, of two twins residing in Brazil who acquired Portuguese nationality, with the drug Zolgensma.

With a total cost of four million euros (two million euros per person), this drug aims to control the spread of spinal muscular atrophy, a neurodegenerative disease.

The case was reported by TVI, last November, and is still being investigated by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) and the General Inspectorate of Healthcare Activities (IGAS) has already concluded that access to the neuropaediatric consultation of these children was illegal.
