After much uncertainty about the future of the series, Netflix has decided to renew ‘The Three-Body Problem’ for a second season. Furthermore, Variety says that Netflix plans to announce the number of episodes in this season soon, as well as the total number of seasons it plans to dedicate to telling the full story.

Netflix has not shared how many viewers have watched ‘The Three-Body Problem’ since its March 21 launch, only saying that the first season ranked as the service’s most-watched non-English series worldwide for three weeks.

Even if it’s not the instant hit that Netflix may have hoped for, ‘The Three-Body Problem’ could still leave its mark. It’s worth remembering that the book on which the series is based, by Cixin Liu, is considered one of the most important works of science fiction in recent years.

It’s also worth remembering that the series is overseen by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who were responsible for HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’.

“We’re thrilled to continue telling this epic story to its mind-bending conclusion. Ever since we read Cixin Liu’s trilogy, we’ve been eager to share its scope and ambition with the world. Here we go,” reads the statement from the executive producers and showrunners that was shared on the X social network (formerly Twitter).

Unfortunately, there’s still no word on when we can expect to see more episodes of ‘The Three-Body Problem’.
