Airbus unveils 'hybrid' between helicopter and plane
The company shared a video demonstration where it is possible to see the Racer taking off.

Airbus has unveiled a new aircraft that is being described as a ‘hybrid’ between a helicopter and an aeroplane - as it combines helicopter propellers with aeroplane-style wings that are fitted with rotors.
The aircraft in question has been named Racer, which is a reference to the fact that it has been developed to speed up response times for emergency services. The aircraft first took to the skies in April, and now Airbus has shared a demonstration video that was filmed over the city of Marseille in France.
