It looks like Netflix's ad-supported tier is here to stay

Netflix announced this Thursday, the 16th, that the subscription plan with ads already has 40 million monthly users worldwide.
The company also praised that, in the set of territories where this subscription plan is present (which does not include Portugal), more than 40% of members end up opting for it. It is worth noting that this is the cheapest subscription among those offered by Netflix.
In addition to this news, Netflix announced that it is working on launching an "internal technology platform for ads", with advertising expected to become an increasingly large business within Netflix.
