The Google I/O, the annual event of the Mountain View technology company where the company took the opportunity to officially present Wear OS 5, took place this week.
This is the latest version of Google's operating system for ‘wearable’ devices, such as fitness wristbands and smart watches. Google says that the priority was to improve the operating system's energy efficiency, indicating that Wear OS 5 will consume 20% less battery than its predecessor.
In addition to the advantages for the battery of the devices, the Engadget website says that Wear OS 5 also has new features regarding the display and will allow ‘developers’ to make new types of displays that show more information.
It is not yet known when Wear OS 5 will be officially launched, but given that Samsung is expected to launch its next smart watch in July, it is possible that we will have news around this time. Furthermore, Google is expected to launch its new Pixel Watch closer to the end of the year.
