"At least for now during the night, nothing was found", said a source from the Viseu Dão Lafões Sub-regional Command around 02:45.
Six vehicles assisted by 20 operatives, from the GNR and the Castro Daire firefighters, were in the Pereira area and the Montemuro mountain range, said the same source, saying that resuming patrols in the morning "is a hypothesis", although "nothing is decided".
Around 01:20, the same source told Lusa that "there was indeed an alert of a possible meteorite fall" and that, "since people reported that they saw a flash in an antenna area", the teams also patrolled "wind farms around there".
Shortly before midnight, reports began to emerge on social media about a flash seen in various parts of the country.
