Despite the success of brands like Huawei and Samsung in the foldable smartphone segment, Apple has yet to release a foldable smartphone of its own.
There have been many rumors about possible launch timelines for the first foldable iPhone, but despite nothing being announced yet, Trendforce believes that we still have a while to wait.
Trendforce’s latest report states that it is “unlikely that Apple will launch a foldable smartphone before 2027”, suggesting that the delay is due to “strict requirements on [display] crease and reliability”.
Trendforce seems to believe that Apple will not commit to officially announcing a foldable iPhone until it has perfected the technology, likely waiting until foldable displays have reached a state of ‘maturity’ and the segment has grown to a more significant size.
